Galearis spectabilis (Gay orchis, Purple orchis, Purple-hooded orchis, and Showy orchis; syn. Galeorchis spectabilis (L.) Rydb., Orchis spectabilis L.) is a orchid species of the Orchis genus. It is native to North America, with a range covering the eastern regions of the United States and Canada, as well as the Great Plains.
The Showy Orchis grows up to a foot in height, and its flowering season is in late spring. It prefers shaded, moist woodlands and limey soils.
